There are 2 types of pigmentation passive and inflammatory. Passive is hormonal origin and is more difficult to treat. Inflammatory is usually as a result of some sort of trauma such as sun damage, picking, scratching burns or others. A course of treatment is necessary.

Benign pigmented spots are coloured spots or patches on the skin caused by increased production of melanin, the dark pigment in the skin (sun spots, liver spots, freckles, uneven skin tone. Some lesions are present at birth whilst others develop with exposure to sun or with age.

Several factors can contribute to the appearance of dark spots on the skin, although through undergoing a course of pigmentation treatment you will be amazed as just how much you could improve their appearance. The Advanced Intense Pulsed Light system produces a light that eliminates pigments without damaging the surrounding tissue causing the unwanted skin lesions to heat up and disintegrate/disappear.

After the treatment the lesion will initially look a little darker and start to peel or fade in the next couple of weeks.

Significant results can usually be seen at the end of a course of 6 treatments, leaving an interval of 2 – 3 weeks between treatments.
